Liam Gill
Founder
In 2024 Liam had the vision of setting up a club. Liam felt the desire and drive to create something unique in the area. With the help of his co-founders, Liam felt there was enough knowledge and diversity amongst the founders, to create something pretty special, Niall's involvement only elevated this. Liam's vision of GSK Coaching and Seaham AFC is to provide a unique experience for children in Seaham.
Phil Shepherd
Founder
Phil is deeply passionate about GSK Coaching and Seaham AFC. With experience playing football in his youth, he understands what makes a local football club thrive. Observing the success of other clubs in the region, Phil fully supports the vision of Seaham AFC and is committed to addressing the need for quality grassroots football in the area. As a self-employed businessman, Phil brings unparalleled business expertise that greatly benefits the day-to-day operations of the club.
Dave Kimmitt
Founder
Dave's background is property, but has a keen interest in the local community and hope's to help with the business elements of running the coaching academy. Dave, Liam and Phil have known each other a long time and really compliment one another. A familiar face in and around Seaham, Dave is known to most as the local estate agent but is delighted to be a business partner in this exciting new opportunity and can be seen around at games most weekends!
Simon Todd
Head Coach
Simon Todd is an accomplished coach and former footballer whose experience across the English game brings invaluable insight to the GSK coaching team. His playing journey began at youth level with Middlesbrough and Darlington, where he developed the foundation and discipline that shaped his future career. Simon progressed to the professional ranks with Darlington FC, competing at League Two level before continuing his playing career in the semi-professional game. He represented a number of respected non-league clubs, including Blyth Spartans, Durham City, Seaham Red Star, and Easington Colliery, earning a reputation for his work rate, reliability, and understanding of the game. A committed coach with a long-standing dedication to player development, Simon has held his UEFA C coaching licence (FIFA Level 2 equivalent) since 2008. His blend of coaching expertise and real-world playing experience allows him to connect with players on a genuine level and support their growth both on and off the pitch. Simon joined GSK in a voluntary capacity in 2025 and has quickly become an invaluable member of the coaching team. His professionalism, enthusiasm, and player-focused approach make him a key asset to the club.
Robbie Bird

Robbie Bird is a highly respected coach and former semi-professional footballer with a wealth of experience across the North East football scene. During his playing career, Robbie represented
Seaham Red Star,
Horden,
Ryhope, and numerous other well-established clubs throughout the region, earning a reputation for his technical ability, commitment, and deep understanding of the game. As a
fully qualified coach, Robbie brings an impressive portfolio of qualifications to his role. He holds a
First Diploma in Sport, a
Football Academy Award Level Two, and a range of additional coaching awards that showcase his dedication to continuous learning and development. Robbie’s experience—both on the pitch and on the training ground—is truly
second to none. His tactical awareness, approachable nature, and ability to connect with players of all ages make him an invaluable asset to any coaching environment. Passionate, professional, and always striving for excellence, Robbie plays a key role in supporting and inspiring the next generation of players.
